CIRA JET SERVICE TO DETROIT BEGINS MARCH 2  

( Bloomington , IL , December 23, 2008)… Northwest Airlines will begin jet service to and from the Central Illinois Regional Airport at Bloomington-Normal (BMI) and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) on March 2, 2009.  The fifty seat Canadair regional jet will operate with the following daily schedule.

3:30 p.m.                      4:05 p.m.                      Daily

Depart BMI                 Arrive DTW                 Frequency

5:10 p.m.                      7:42 p.m.                      Daily

 “The arrival of jet service to Detroit is an indication of the strength of our local market,” said Paul Harmon, Chairman of the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority.“Northwest’s decision to upgrade our flight to a fifty seat jet during a time of deep capacity cuts in the airline industry signifies confidence in the central Illinois travel market to Detroit and other important business centers in the northeast. “  

Chairman Harmon added, “This new jet service will enhance the travel experience for our passengers when they travel through Detroit .”  

Through Detroit ’s Metropolitan Wayne County Airport travelers can reach 160 nonstop destinations, including international destinations in Canada , Europe and Asia .
