Senator
Durbin’s Assistance Allows Airport to Move Safety Project Forward
BLOOMINGTON, IL (Thursday,
January 22, 2009)…The Central Illinois Regional Airport at Bloomington-Normal
(BMI) is excited to announce that, through the support of Senator Dick
Durbin (D-IL), it will be receiving a $1,000,000
grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.
This grant will be used to complete a project to enhance safety and
wildlife control at the airport by upgrading the perimeter fencing that secures

grant will allow us to move forward on this very important project and the

The $1,000,000 will fund
Phase III of a multi-phased fencing project that began in 2007.
Phase I is complete. Phase II is scheduled for construction and
completion this spring. These funds
will allow completion of Phase III in 2009.
The project will provide an enhancement that will help the airport meet
new FAA standards for security and safety.
