Central
Illinois
Regional
Airport
at Bloomington-Normal has once again broken all previous passenger traffic
records with its total number of passengers in 2010.
The year ended with 559,481 total passengers flying to and from CIRA, a
12.9% increase from 2009’s total passenger traffic and a 5.0% increase over
the former record year in 2008.
“While this news indicates an excellent rebound from
2009, the more important indication is the steady strength of CIRA’s passenger
traffic growth in recent years. This
is the seventh increase of the last eight years and the third record year of the
last four years.”, said
Paul Harmon
, Chairman of the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority. “Preliminary
projections indicate that nationally passenger traffic finished 2010 with an
approximate 2.0% increase which further highlights the strength of CIRA’s
12.9% increase.”
